World Cup 2026 Groups & Standings
The FIFA World Cup 2026 features 48 teams in 12 groups of four (Groups A–L). The top two from each group plus the eight best third-placed teams advance to the Round of 32. Use this page to follow the group standings, then dive into our daily results and analysis for every matchday.
How qualification from the group stage works
- 1st and 2nd place in each of the 12 groups qualify automatically (24 teams).
- The 8 best 3rd-placed teams across all groups also advance.
- That makes 32 teams in the knockout stage, starting with the Round of 32.
Tie-breakers, in order: points, goal difference, goals scored, then head-to-head results, with fair-play and a drawing of lots as final separators.
